10th November, 2006 (KUALA LUMPUR): SRA Integrasi from Selangor
will take on SK Othman Shawal from Melaka in the final of
the 100PLUS Super Cup Under-12 champion schools national
finals tomorrow afternoon at the SMK Victoria here.
SRA Integrasi made sure of their place in the final with two quick goals from Amirul Akmal Elias in the 8th and Khairul Hazmin Awang in the 12th minute to beat SK Senawang from Negeri Sembilan in the semifinals.
SK Senawang tried to get back into the game after the early setback but a 14th minute header from Mohamad Syhair off a corner was the best that they could muster as the side from Selangor maintained their discipline after the break for the win.
The Selangor team had a tough time making the semifinals when they had to fight tooth and nail in the quarter-finals against SK Padang Pohon Tanjung from Kelantan,
"With the tournament favourites (Kuala Lumpur and Pulau Pinang) out, it is difficult to gauge what will happen tomorrow in the final," said SRA Integrasi head coach Fakhrul Anuar.
"For the final, I will be making a few changes to the defensive line-up as we need to improve on that aspect a little bit more."
For SK Othman Shawal from Melaka, they need to improve their defending against set pieces if they want to stand a chance of winning the inaugural title of the 100PLUS Super Cup Under-12.
Despite taking the early lead through Rohaizat Jasman (2nd minute), the team just could not defend against the set pieces from SK Setapak Indah from Kuala Lumpur, who scored twice through Muhammad Adam and
Muhammad Amar in the 8th and 30th minute respectively.
If it had not been for the two early goals from Muhammad Iskandar in the 7th and then Muhammad Redzuan in the 27th minute, SK Othman Shawal might not have made the final.
"The team worked really hard to get this far especially when no one gave us a chance in the preliminary round (when they lost to SK Padang Pohon Tanjung from Kelantan)," said SK Othman Shawal head coach Mohd
Zamri Ali.
"There will be some changes to the squad for the final
tomorrow and we might just spring a surprise against Selangor."
